The Blackpool Illuminations are an incredible 6-mile light show, which is great fun for everyone. The illuminations make an appearance every year from around September for a couple of months; however, for 2021, they will be on show from the beginning of September all the way to New Year 2022. While Blackpool Illuminations are a free event, they also rely on donations (find out more at the bottom of this post).
The illuminations are located along the promenade in Blackpool and can be viewed on foot or by car. You can drive the 6-mile stretch and enjoy from the comfort of your vehicle; but it is just as fun to get out and have a wander, this way you can stop and check out the lights you love. Don’t forget to stop by the Blackpool Tower too, as this will be illuminated in a variety of vibrant colours.
Prices
Free – however, the Illuminations rely on donations every year, so there are donation boxes along the promenade to donate. You could also donate online here: Blackpool Illuminations Fund. Donations start from £5.
Parking
There are a number of locations to park along the promenade, so you can enjoy the Illuminations on foot. Or you could simply drive along and enjoy from the warmth of your own vehicle.
